Valentine's Day Dance with Vera

Vera and I went to our first Daddy-Daughter Valentine's Day dance. We had a great time dancing the night away.

We started out with dinner. We went to the Market Street Cafe  in the little downtown in our neighborhood. I wanted to sit at the bar with her, but the seats were back too far for her.

We settled for a booth. She had a grilled cheese, fruit cup and a side of pickles. Yum.

We tried taking a lot of pictures. Vera isn't a big fan of slowing down for a picture. This is about the best we could do.

Vera is very progressive. She insisted on paying. I let her.

Having some conversation about their dresses

They had balloons all over the room. Little girls love balloons. Vera had at least one in her hand the entire night. Most girls gave up on the balloons after 20 minutes. Not Vera. All night long. In fact, she would hand them out from time to time to random girls. They would always take them and then let them go after Vera ran away from them.

Some sort of wardrobe adjustment

This is Charly's dad, Jake, with two dance partners. They kept falling down on purpose and laughing hysterically.

Our attempt at taking a photo on our way into the dance.  Vera just isn't into taking pictures. We had a great time though and stayed all the way until the end. Vera insisted.

Ear We Go Again

Our little Lucgoose has had five ear infections and she is yet to turn eight months old. Here she is sleeping inclined to try to help with the discomfort. We have an  appointment to see the ENT about tubes next week. Our doctor said that since she is still breastfeed and a stay at home baby, all these ear infections are a sign of just bad plumbing. Of all the things to inherit from your parents, right? I cannot wait to stick those tiny little tubes in her ears; they make all the difference. I hate to see Lucy in pain and tugging at her ears all the time, and getting tubes will be the fix.

Snow Jealous

Lucy got a little jealous of all her friends and cousins posting pictures of snow. She decided that it should snow bubbles in her room since Florida can't support the real thing.
Trying to eat the bubble snowflakes

She was so close to catching one on her tongue
If I concentrate really hard...
Hilarious. I can't believe she is almost 8 months old. Next year we'll see snow Lucy, next year.

Splish Splash

This just makes me smile. I love watching Veve and her fight over toys in the tub. The teenage years are going to be rough around here if that Ariel doll is any indication. Lucy can hold her own, and Vera is as stubborn as the come. This round went to Lucy, but the battle for sister dominance has only just begun.

Good Night Sweetheart

Matthew was gone this week on a trip to South Carolina. While he was away I checked in on the girls at night just a little bit more than normal.
Vera couldn't sleep one night due to the ridiculously loud fireworks at Epcot. She hopped in bed with me for some snuggle time, but insisted on bringing her Daddy picture with her. She sleeps with that frame in her bed every night. Too bad she doesn't love her daddy?
So peacefully
Happily dreaming away. I'd like to think she is dreaming of me
If you ever doubt in the existence of  God, simply look at a sleeping child. Innocence , grace, and joy, all at the same time.

You'er Gonna Hear Me Roar!

Lucy wants nothing to do with sitting anymore. She only wants to stand, so we introduced her to Mr Lion. She loves him!
"I have to go really slowly" stated Vera. Not so much.

Ahem!

Vera has been coughing like an arctic seal at night. Unfortunately, we had to bust this bad boy out for a few days. She hates it, but I've managed to get her to cooperate with a piece of chocolate and Frozen time. I also forgot that it makes children hyper, and so Vera was forced to watch Downton Abbey with me on Sunday night. She was wide awake and ready to party at ten o'clock. Hopefully the medicine will kickin and she will sleep peacefully through the night soon.

Polka-dots and Bridges

I love taking pictures with our new camera lens. That and the fact that it finally stopped raining to reveal gorgeous weather. Not too cold, not too hot, but just right for a Sunday stroll.
Showing off her church kicks.
She kept picking up pine needles and referring to them as "flutes". Color outside the lines Ve, someone has to add new words to the dictionary.
The is she angry or sweet face?
A stranger attempted to take a family photo for us. Ehhh.
Just practicing her standing and flashing her baby blues
Being my favorite little stinker and running ahead on the bridge. Until...
This guy followed her and almost jumped on her. She was freaked out. Stupid tourists feed the squirrels and as a result they will come right up to you with no fear. It is beyond creepy, and your on a bridge so what are you gonna do? We were probably a foot away from this little tree rat.

Just testing my patience and being Ve. Love it!

Hey. I'm just hanging out behind this giant tree stump. Don't mind me.
They were searching for Arnie the alligator, who happily is still hibernating.
Matthew and Lucgoose
Two out of three looking isn't too shabby

I wish my girls could see how I view them for just one day. I hope they would see how absolutely amazed I am by them, and how truly special they are to me.
If I had a desk, this would be on it.
"Can you believe mom made us sit in the middle of a bridge" giggled Veve?
"I know. It's simply ridiculous" snickered Lucy
This was a fabulous idea that didn't turn out as planned. Vera was not participating and countless joggers and bikers kept walking through. Next time, oh yes, next time.

Sister Swings

Today we headed to the park since it was 85 degrees outside. I am just not ready for this hot weather to be here permanently. It went from freezing cold to stupid hot in a day.
Lucgoose enjoying her first swing ride. She loves it!
Reaching out for Vera's hand
The face of pure joy
relaxing in the shade with her Minnie ball

My girls on the swings. Vera likes the big girl swings better, but agreed to ride on the baby ones for Lucy. How long will that attitude last?
I love being able to go outside and get into all sorts of whohaw with my girls. Good times.
