Hurricane Disney

Hurricane curfew went into affect at 6PM on Saturday, so we headed to Disney that morning. We had been prepared for days, and really just needed to get out of the house to get our minds off of the impending storm. Apparently our entire neighborhood was there, but no one else It was gloriously empty and we had a blast.

Our day started off on a personal trolley tour with the Dapper Dans who serenaded us with songs the entire ride up Main Street. I felt like a celebrity.
While Matthew and Goose rode the roller coasters, Vera and I checked out Mickey's Philharmagic

Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma ruined our life for the last week and a half. We have been preparing almost daily for her arrival and checking The Weather Channel every hour for updates on her path of destruction. Unfortunately, Matthew was in Texas until Thursday, so the girls and I prepared by heading to the grocery store for supplies long before all the crazy people. We sat back and didn't have to deal with the panicked masses. The Governor closed all school on Friday, so Matthew and I finished moving outside furniture and preparing under the stairs as a sleeping place for the girls. When Saturday finally rolled around, and it honestly seemed to take forever, we were ready and decided to get out of the house for some fun before we were forced to hunker down. Where do you go when you live in Orlando and are stressed out? Disney of course, and it was glorious! The park was completely dead except for a bunch of locals who were out before the curfew.
Hanging out under the stairs in our emergency shelter. They had a grand old time and slept through the entire hurricane. I was a hot mess and have decided that anything over a Cat 3 and I will be outta here.

Hurricanes also call for a lot of Barbie time, and yes, I busted out my new in the box Peaches and Cream doll for the occasion. The girls are allowed to play with her but are forbidden from "doing" her hair.
The girls were sound asleep and I maybe slept two hours. The wind was insane and our roof started to leak. Other than that we were very lucky. This was about 2 AM when the eye of the storm was directly over us.
The next afternoon we ventured out to check out the damage. Holy hurricane there were trees down everywhere. This was in our alley. The good news is everyone on our street worked together and took care of all the downed trees and limbs.

Trees caused the sidewalk to buckle all over town.

Every tree down on my favorite street.
Our favorite park took a direct hit
Boom goes the boardwalk
Everyone was ok, but then came the food shortages for about a week and a half after the storm. Good thing I totally stocked up before hand.

I'm just thankful everyone was ok.

Ears and All

While little sister brazes Snow White's Mine-train with Dad, Ve and I had a blast just strolling around Magic Kingdom. I love my special time with her at our happy place.
