Donald Dancing

Vera was getting her groove on with Donald the other afternoon. She danced like this for almost an hour, and I just sat back and took it all in. I just love watching her in moments like this...pure joy.
Lucy was too shy to dance with Donald, but she gladly accepted a kiss on the hand.

Seeing Stars

Because every once in awhile you need to get crazy on a Tuesday.
Just two gals and their star sunglasses. No biggie.

Random Outtakes

These just make me giggle...
Lucy with Turk form Tarzan. She jut ran up to the giant, fuzzy monkey without skipping a beat. Vera refused since she hadn't seen the movie.
Best dog ever.
She would have hugged him all afternoon. She loves a good Disney hug
Vera and the big cheese himself.
Lucy refused to see any characters except Minnie Mouse on this day. Vera was over the moon that she got them all to herself for the first time in two years.
One fine, extremely hot, morning we decided to go to Animal Kingdom. Despite my best efforts, we still do not have a family picture by the tree of life.
There was not enough money in all of China for Vera to get in this picture, but I got Lucy to begrudgingly. This makes me so happy because it was our first time seeing the characters from the movie Up. I adore that movie and even named our blog after it. I love that I get to do life with Matthew and the girls; they are my greatest adventure.
Waiting to see the Lion King show
So  much spirit
Lucy took over Minnie Mouse so Vera got Mickey to hug

They really only wanted Mickey in the picture, but felt bad for Mickey. Life certainly is fun.

Lunch with Anna, Elsa and Ruthie

During Ruthie's visit at the end of June, Holly had booked a lunch with Anna and Elsa right downtown in our neighborhood. Ruthie was super excited to meet the latest Disney princesses.

Vera's friend Renee came by the house so they could walk downtown together. They just happened to both pick their Anna dress to wear
Here is Vera with her other royal guests. Notice Vera's silly face.

All of the kids sit along a bar and get to make treats and create their own mac & cheese pizza

Anna and Elsa have arrived

Ruthie is helping Vera work on one of her treats

Vera showing off her mac and cheese pizza. It was actually pretty good.

On our way out, Vera stopped to get her picture made with the cast.

Vera had a great time with Anna, Elsa and Ruthie. Thanks Ruthie for your visit. Always a great time.

Summer Art Camp

Vera spent a week at art camp, and it was amazing! Every day she learned about a new artist and mimicked their painting style. It was really neat to see her so excited about tapping into her creative side. The first day they made "art portfolio" bags where they could store their masterpieces all week. They also made art aprons to avoid getting messy, which Vera managed to do despite the apron.

Day one was Picasso
I adore this, but Vera insisted on mailing it to Ruthie. When I asked Ve why she put the eyes and lips where she did she said because "it just felt right". Okay then.
Vera's take on Monet and his famous Waterlilies painting. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but alas. She had a great time and I can't wait for her to do it again.

Lucy's First Light Parade

This past weekend we took late naps and treated the girls to a special evening at Magic Kingdom. Lucy had never seen the Main Street Electrical Parade, and she was glued. Her eyes were as big as quarters. I can't wait to have more special evenings with them.
There is magic in the power of imagination.
I love these two

Doc stopped by to shake Lucy's hand and I was giddy with excitement. It was wonderful!
I think seeing Cinderella and Prince Charming was Lucy's favorite. She just kept waving and smiling.
Waving to Alice and the Cheshire Cat

It is just so special that we get to spend our nights together in the most magical of places.
Basking in the neon glow of the lights. It was a wonderful evening with my girls.

She Sleeps

Lucy has been fighting me on taking a nap on a daily basis. I know we are just months away from it being gone permanently. She has enough energy to make it until dinner time, but then she just runs out of gas. The other day at the park this was the case.
She was so exhausted that she crawled onto the blanket, laid down, and fell asleep within a few minutes.  I wish she would just trust me that naps are awesome, but she doesn't think I am right on this one.

Lucy's 2 year Appointment

My Lucgoose went to the doctor the other week for her 2 year, gasp, check up. Lucy weighed in at 33 lbs. and was 35 inches tall. She was so brave and did very well. It' just hard to believe that she's growing up so fast.
Twirling on the scale

Getting measured for height: the doctor said she is on track to be at least 5'10. I'll take that all day long and twice on Sunday.

And the nurse listening to her heart and taking her temperature. She did such a good job of "breathing like a big girl". She received a glowing report, we just need to keep an eye on her heart and we're good. We go next month to the cardiologist, so more on that to come.

Second Star from the Right, a Golden Ticket, and a Pair of Ears

The other day we headed to Magic Kingdom because I was in need of some family magic time.
Meeting the Pan required Dad's hand for a little added bravery
Vera gave Peter a gold doubloon she found. He seemed pretty excited about it and bounced away to get her a gift in return. He skipped back with a giant blade of grass, which we had to carry around for the rest of our visit. You think he would come back with a little pixie dust or something.
After many failed attempts, Vera finally warmed up to him.
Lucy just likes getting hugs.
Then we headed to see Belle. Lucy was assigned the part of Chip because she was the tiniest person in the room. Vera was a smidgen jealous, but happy for her at the same time. Lucy marched around the room like a champ. She even hopped up to Belle herself and said hello.
My girls with the best princess out there
Thanks to a fast pass mix-up, we were able to get in to see Anna and Elsa. Lucy was in shock and just wanted to hold her hand. Vera chatted her up.

I think Ve was trying to freeze something

Sisters meeting Anna

Happy as clams
Lucy is in there somewhere
Lucy and her favorite character ever...Minnie
Lucy finally earned her ears!

At her favorite place with her favorite people
It was such a great day it was hilarious
