Mrs Vera's 100th Day

Last Thursday Vera and her class celebrated her 100th day of school. The kids all got to dress up as if they were 100 years old. It was precious to see all these little kids hobble into class with walkers, canes, and feigned back pain.  We borrowed a skirt from an older neighbor, tossed on some gloves from our Tinkerbell costume, dyed her hair snowy white, and added some cat eye glasses from my old Halloween costume for some drama. I think she turned out perfectly darling as a 100 year old granny.

Sadly I bought this purse years ago and actually wore it out in Atlanta. Good thing I saved it!

Sweet Ve

Hans was at the door and we were trying to get a picture with him in it too. Vera tried to get me to let Hans come to school with her because "old people like cats". 

She was totally committed to the roll and slowly walked into school humped over with her cane. We passed the principal on the way, and Vera said, "Excuse me. I'm on my way to 8 o'clock church". I guess she may have heard me say that only old people go to 8AM church service a few times. Whoops. 

I can't believe we're almost done with Kindergarten. Time certainly has gone by in a blink. 

Lucy's Crown

Lucy goes to a wonderful in home preschool two days a week. I swear she learns more there than an entire year somewhere else. She already knows all her upper and lowercase letter and sounds. She has now moved on to her blends and should be reading before we know it. It just amazes me how much she loves school and learning. She worked very hard and earned her alphabet crown.

Christmas at Magic Kingdom

Vera has been begin for years to go to Disney and watch the Christmas parade. It's always ridiculously crowded and I am able to get out of going. This year, she was relentless and asked for weeks. I eventually caved and we headed to Magic Kingdom bright and early with the sole purpose of watching the parade. It was super fun and worth the crowds and craziness.

And then on our way out a Disney employee approached us and asked if we liked Alice and the Mad Hatter. Lucy honestly replied, "their not my favorite". But Vera screamed YES! They took us backstage anyway and we got to meet them. True to form, Lucy was a hugging machine, and Vera went oddly silent in celebrity awe.

The day after Christmas we packed up and headed to South Carolina to see everyone. The girls were beyond excited!

As soon as everyone arrived, the girls handed out presents, which meant they were ready to open some too. We are all certainly blessed beyond measure. Lucy was so excited she got a flipazoo from Uncle Jim and Aunt Kathy!

They were thrilled to finally get a marble run from Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim! It is a mega hit around our house!

After giving Uncle Jim his Christmas supply of Peeps, he was nice enough to share one with her. This picture just makes me giggle with happiness.

And then we headed out for dinner at the local Mexican restaurant. Lucy was so tired she feel asleep at the table. Lucy has always been a deep sleeper, and with that being said, she had an accident all over the floor. Luckily I had an extra pair of undies in my bag, so we were good to go.
