Thanksgiving at Ruthie's

This Thanksgiving we headed to South Carolina to spend some time with the family. It's always a good time at Ruthie's.

Vera was slightly obsessed with the binoculars.
Here we are. This is us.
And one more.
They loved the cold weather. I guess living in Florida has made them excited about any temp below 60.
No trip to Ruthie's would be complete without a visit to the zip-line tree house. Vera loves it!

The turkey flies!

Giggles
Just kickin' up their boots and relaxing

It was a swingin' good time st Ruthie's. Happy Thanksgiving all.

paraLEGOgram

Lucy insisted that she was correct and to this day stands behind her paralegogram. You can see how annoyed she gets when I do not pronounce things the same way her teacher does. Priceless.

The Art Room

Originally we weren't going to do a party for Vera. But she really wanted to have an art party, and being a sucker for all things that involve painting I caved. So we had her party at the local art room where an artist taught fourteen girls how to paint a mermaid step by step. Vera decided on a mermaid weeks before and when the day finally came she was beside herself with excitement.

All the girls with their easels.
Goose about half way through

The big 7 year old

Helping when the area was too tiny

It was a little too difficult for 4 year old Goose, but Dad helped her through it. After about two minutes of help she insisted on doing the rest by herself.

All the girls were so quiet and focused for two hour of painting.
Vera requested a PJ Masks cookie cake. alright then.

Finished with the water outline

Lucy's mermaid starting to take shape. I had to completely let go of my need for perfection with this party and just let the girls have fun. In the end, every painting was absolutely precious and unique.
Super focused

We have hair!
Vera insisted on red hair for her mermaid, just like Ariel.

These next photos sum it all up

Lucy's mermaid holding a fish. She was especially proud of the scales she painted on the tail.

It was a wonderful day celebrating Ve and the 7 years we have been blessed with her.
